Play:3 Play:5 Sonos Bridge
For the longest time i’ve been trying to figure out how to get all of that music nestled on my external hard drive, to various other areas in my house. Being a fan of Samsung I was almost tempted to purchase one of their wireless dock/speaker systems. So I poked and prodded Samsung online via twitter for information about these systems and I could never really get an answer about them. I would get the standard canned repsonse “Samsung good!” “we’re great!”, which is fine and dandy as I already own a Samsung S3 and Tab 2 7.0 (not to mention my Samsung flat screen TV), but all I was doing was a little research to make sure this is what I wanted. It’s a big $ purchase for such an item and I like to make sure that what I’m getting is what I think i’m getting. Get it? Good.
Then somehow I discovered Sonos (http://www.sonos.com). I think it first caught my eye at a Best Buy though I didn’t pay it much mind as it was a brand I never heard of before. Then I started seeing the commercials. Sure those commercials featured musicians and band I don’t listen to, but they were dancing and having fun, so maybe there is something to this Sonos system after all! It was enough to pique my interest.
Off I went poking and prodding around the internet again asking the Sonos people various questions and hoping to get the right answer. It was at that moment, a true moment of clarity, when the right answer came forth;
“We will help free all of that music trapped in your basement…”
That is an exact quote from a Sonos rep. Not a “woo hoo, we’re great and you should get this product because we say we’re great” type of statement. It was more like a – we’re confident we can help you acheive what you are looking for – statement.
That’s all I needed to hear.
Lo and behold about 3 weeks later they showed up on my doorstep. So now here I am, with a Sonos Play:3, Play:5 and of course the Sonos Bridge.
All I can really say right now is, THANK YOU SONOS!
If you haven’t viewed them already, here are various videos I made regarding the Sonos system;
Set-up could not be much easier, even if you had someone from Sonos come by to install it all themselves. There was not one single hiccup in the entire process. I think we are all used to some sort of hang-up when installing some new hardware or software to our computer and to say I was pleasantly suprised when there were no issues is an understatement. The software picked up on the components almost immediately so before I knew it the whole system was up and running.
I’ve also installed the Sonos controller apps on my phone and tablet. With these app I can control both the Play3 and the Play5 from anywhere in the house with ease. Volume control and everything is right there at your fingertips.
Features. You want features? You can’t handle the features! Actually you can and Sonos probably streams all of them. Not only can you stream your own private collection of music you can also stream from Amazon Cloud, Pandora, Rdio, Spotify, Tune-In, SiriusXM, Slacker and more (http://www.sonos.com/music). Streaming Pandora over my Sonos system really came in handy over Christmas time. I had no idea there were that many streaming Chirstmas stations out there!
Oh yeah, what about sound quality you ask…well I’ll tell you. It’s amazing. Deep bass, swwet highs and all the good stuff inbetween. That’s on both the Play:3 and Play:5. I probably shouldn’t say this but in my opinion the Play:3 sounds just as good as the Play:5. The Play:5 is definitely louder but they did not skimp on the quality when it came to the Play:3.
In summary, Sonos is awesome. You cannot go wrong with either the Play:3 or the Play:5. The amount of features, the simplicity of the installation and not to mention the ease of which the system updates, makes it a no brainer. Don’t believe me just yet? Take a look at the videos, all done by myself, that showcase the Sonos system.
Thanks to those of you I know whom have already purchased a Sonos system based of the videos and my recommendation and even bigger thanks to Sonos for getting my music out of the basement!!!
Now…to get my hands on the new Sonos Playbar. . .Tags: 3, 5, hifi, play, play:3, play:5, sonos, sonos bridge, wireless
